CITY-ASSISTED EVACUATION (CAE)

Did you know:

Anyone in Orleans Parish who cannot leave by their own means during a mandatory evacuation may use City-Assisted Evacuation to get a free ride to safe shelter.

  • This plan also includes for pets to be evacuated with their people.

  • CAE will provide a free return ride home once the city is re-opened.

  • CAE supplies transportation from 17 designated pick-up points in the city called Evacuspots, to the Smoothie King Center, and then on to state and regional shelters.

  • 18 state and local agencies play a role in this plan!

Evacuteer’s Mission is to support the effective and respectful evacuation of communities during times of major crisis. We recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist in New Orleans’ public evacuation efforts.

  • We know it’s not a matter of “if” we will need to launch a citywide evacuation, but “when”…

  • Our volunteers live and work in the communities we serve

  • Evacuteer.org is a trusted partner of the City and resource to our community

  • Evacuteer volunteers help to expand the capacity of overstretched government agencies during a mandatory evacuation

  • Evacuteers are trained on CAE procedures every year!
