teachNOLA Teaching Fellows seeks the nation's most outstanding mid-career professionals and recent college graduates to significantly impact education by teaching in New Orleans public schools. The Teaching Fellows program is a highly selective alternate route to teaching program that recruits, selects, and trains committed individuals to become effective teachers in New Orleans public schools. We know that teacher quality is the single most critical factor in raising student achievement for all students, regardless of background or socioeconomic status. An effective teacher has the ability to change the academic growth trajectory of under-performing students by accelerating learning so that they can catch up to their peers. Too often, however, our highest need students do not have enough good teachers. teachNOLA Teaching Fellows is changing this reality by recruiting and preparing high-quality, effective teachers who can raise student achievement in the classrooms most in need.
