At the end of the 2009 Hurricane Season, local social entrepreneur and owner of the wildly popular store Fleurty Girl, Lauren Thom approached evacuteer.org about helping raise money for the organization.
Our first co-produced shirt is still one of her best sellers. Chris Rose, the former Times Picayune Columnist and community voice for many in the months and years after the storm gave us permission to use his line:
"We dance when there is no music. We drink at funerals. We talk too much, and live too large and, frankly, we're suspicious of those who don't."
Lauren donates $2.00 of every shirt to evacuteer.org.
In 2010, we co-produced the iconic NOLA > Hurricane shirt and she donated $5.00 of every shirt sold throughout the 2010 hurricane season.
Lauren Thom is evacuteer.org's largest donor to date and we thank her very much for her contributions to our mission.
